TALEN™ Starter kit
Assess the functionality of TALEN™ technology in your laboratory
TALEN™ (Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases) are a novel class of sequence-specific nucleases, created by fusing a transcription activator-like effector DNA binding domain to the catalytic head of an endonuclease. These nucleases allow DNA double strands breaks with very high efficiency and precision.
The TALEN™ Starter kit is designed to help you implement the TALEN™ technology in your laboratory.
The kit contains all necessary reagents to perform a gene knock-out:
- an HEK-293 cell line constitutively expressing the reporter gene GFP
- an anti-GFP TALEN™ NØW designed to disrupt the eGFP gene sequence
TALEN™ NØW™ is a ready to use TALEN™ designed for efficient gene knock-out (functional disruption of a gene’s activity) at a specific locus. The introduction of a frame shift in the start codon region of a gene avoids the production of partially functional truncated proteins and greatly ensures gene knock-out events. Transfecting the GFP expressing HEK-293 cells with the anti-GFP TALEN™ NØW will allow you to verify the functionality of the TALEN™ technology in your laboratory.
